Quiche is a great ultimate food. It can be for served as a spring brunch, and of course it's good for dinner as well. And you can add pretty much anything you want!
Sometime I make quiche when I want to clean out my fridge and there are lots of small amounts of leftovers.
Quiche is simple and easy to make - mix the ingredients well, pour into a shell and bake. That's it! (of course if you want to make a pie shell, it takes a bit more time...) serve with salad and it'll be a perfect dinner.
Ingredients
1 pie shell
about 14 asparagus
1 tablespoon butter
4 eggs
1 cup shredded gruyere cheese
2 cups half and half
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
salt and pepper for taste
Direction
Preheat oven to 350F/175C
Cook asparagus with butter, season with salt and pepper. Arrange the cooked asparagus on the bottom of a pie shell and add the cheese on top.
Mix eggs, half and half, nutmeg, salt and pepper. Making sure the eggs are fully broken up and mixed well with the half and half.
Pour the mixture over the asparagus. Bake for 15 minutes, then turn the oven down to 325F/160C and bake another 35 minutes or until it's done - the top of the quiche will get to a nice golden brown.
Remove from oven and allow to sit 10 minutes before serving
