This is a classic brownie recipe from one of the greatest American movie stars: Katharine Hepburn.
I was not sure Katharine Hepburn was Fiona's favorite movie star.
According to her book, In Me: Stories of My Life, Katharine Hepburn was chatty, stubborn, competitive and on the screen she usually played a strong-willed woman, which was like Fiona, I would say...
Katharine Hepburn's brownies are one of the very famous American classic recipes.
Fiona and her boys love chocolate, and brownies and chocolate chip cookies are a must have at their house all the times.
These brownies are very chewy, dark, and rich.
So no wonder Fiona enjoyed this recipe!!
Ingredients
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
2 eggs, room temperature
1/4 cup flour
1 teaspoon vanilla
Pinch of salt
1 cup chopped walnuts, option
Directions
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Butter and flour 8x8 square pan, set aside.
Melt the butter in a sauce pot with the cocoa and mix until smooth. Use a big enough pot for all the ingredients. Let it cool.
Add and whisk in the eggs, one at a time.
Place a mesh strainer on the pot and combine sugar, flour and salt to add to the butter-cocoa mixture. Stir until just combined.
Add in the nuts.
Pour into the prepared pan and bake about for 35 minutes.
The brownies should be moist in the center.
